Komodo Brushless Motor Kits
Komodo rightly have a reputation for producing high-quality brushless motor kits. You can also buy them ready made. The KH-278 and KH-283 are supplied with a prop saver type adapter, other adapter types and motor mounts are available. Spare shafts are available here.
In common with most providers of motor wind data, Komodo uses AWG (American Wire Gauge) whereas SWG is more readily available in the U.K. See here for a AWG to SWG conversion table. Magnet wire in various sizes is available for experimenting with different winds.
The build instructions for each kit detail how to fit the magnets and provide a paper template for alignment. Plastic magnet spacers are also available - these have slots for each magnet and are inserted into the end-bell to align the magnets and then removed before fixing the magnets into place with CA.
The kits include heatshrink tubing to protect the magnet wire where it is used as a lead-out to the ESC. An alternative is to solder the magnet wire to a termination PCB and use flexible cable for the lead-outs.

KH-257
The KH-257 Outrunner Motor is a lightweight and high torque motor. It weighs only 21-25g. That is perfect for shock flyer, aerobatics and 3D indoor models. The 22mm 12 tooth stator and 16 pieces of 4 x 4 x 1.5mm N50 magnet allows you set-up the motor in many ways. For example: Distributed LRK winding with 14 magnet poles.

KH-257D
The KH-257D Outrunner Motor is a double stator version of the KH-257. It weighs only 38-39.5. Two 22mm 12 tooth stator and 16 pieces of 4 x 9 x 1.7mm N50 magnet allow you set-up the motor in many ways. For example: Distributed LRK winding with 14 magnet poles; 10 magnets for high RPM or 16 magnets for high torque and low RPM.

KH-278 V2
The KH-278 V2 is a modified outrunner motor kit designed for 3D aerobatics and parkflyer models. It comes with all parts to build a powerful engine at an affordable price.
The KH-278 V2 is powered with 1.9mm-curved NdFeB magnets. It covers 80% inner circumference of flux ring. By this latest design, the motor can deliver excellent acceleration for hovering and performing aggressive 3D aerobatic maneuvers at high efficiency rate. In addition, high quality hardened steel main shaft and precision CNC rotor allows the motor to run at high rpm without vibration.
The three-screw lock system at the top of end-bell can let you install and change the main shaft without gluing, while the pre-assembled end-bell and flux ring can help you to build the motor easier and faster.
In order to increase the range of propeller installation, this motor kit includes a set of propeller savers. By using it, you can install GWS SF, GWS HD and APC SF propellers without modification while it protects your propeller from crashing.
